Texas riders, who's bike is this?

I'm making a rack similar to this, and I remember a while back somebody posting some pictures of a rack that may have been this one.

Forgot about it, who's is it?

If it's yours, and you've posted pictures of the rack, will you redirect me to the thread please?

Thanks.

Thanks skeeter, I'm trying to make a rack that keeps the grab rails like his does.

I've made a shackle that lowers the rear of the rail, making it so that it leans back a bit, changing the angle so that you gain some room between the rack and the passenger seat.

I bought some plastic L angle stuff to mock up the pieces before needing to cut up real angle iron, or aluminium. Didn't get to it before this hospital stay, but it's still churning in my head.

Thought maybe he has thought up some engineering that I haven't yet.

You probably have all the engineering details worked out already with the week you've had in there!

I made the bracket out of 1/4" aluminum plate. I also made the quick connect for the venture trunk out of 1/2" steel box tubing.
I used some pipe I had laying around for a spacer to fill the gap that the factory backrest left when removed. armrests are made from 1" steel box tubing and the pivots for the armrests are made from 1" aluminum bar stock. The bolts I used are stainless bolts. I had to turn down the shoulder on the bolts since they are standard and not metric. Wife loves the trunk and armrests. I just need to paint the trunk to match bike.

Do you have a photobucket or similar folder with lot of pictures of it?

Thanks for the reply.

Thanks for the pictures Bluetongue, if you had it to do over again, would you go to the trouble of making the quick disconnect?

Having carpenter tools (saws all is the closest I have to useful for cutting metal) not fabricating tools, I'll cut everything up and take it to a welder so all they have to do is weld the pieces together.

I anticipated just bolting the trunk down with rubber in between, if you had it all to do over again would you go to the trouble of making the quick disconnect, or just bolt the whole thing down?

How useful has it been to be able to release the trunk?

I would make the quick connect again because it puts all the stress on the parts that where designed to be stressed and it helps when it comes off quickly to loose the weight for when the back tire is changed or when you get to the motel you just take it in with ya and unload your gear.

I originally was not going to make a quick connect but now I am glad I did.
