Hi Caper,
I think I read somewhere that it doesn't take much to keep these stuck in place. I know I tossed out what glue was left in that little tube that came with my ISO grips, but if (when) mine loosen up I'm just going to smear a bit of silicon caulking on the bars and push the grips back on (after another roughing up with sand paper).
How's the weather doing in Cape Breton?

My left grip became loose in Custer. I think the dampness probably had something to do with it, since it rained daily. I don't like using gorilla glue, epoxy, or other adhesives that will outlast the bike itself, so I bought some unscented Aqua Net hairspray and sprayed the handlebar and the inside of the grip and slid it back on. It's good and solid now.

I had the same problem when I first got the bike, I tried silicone and a couple other products without success. Finally I used a bit of JB Weld and Ive never had a peoblem again.

Caper, I have never liked using glues of a permanet nature on grips. If you do you have to destroy the grip to take it off.
I do them just like my bicycle grips and my golf club grips. I put a very light coat of Dove liquid dish soap on the bar and the inside of the grip. It takes some effort to slide the grips on but once fully seated wipe any excess soap from bar/grip then hit with blow dryer (for hair not the ones for shrink tube or paint removal) for about 10 minutes. Let set for a day till good and dry.
It takes some work to remove: lift a edge, get some moisture under it work it back and forth, tiny more lift and bit more moisture and repeat 4-5 times and it will come off. The beauty is that water will clean the bar and the inside of the grip and leave them both like new and ready to re-install. Just never add water to install process. Dilute the soap and it doesn't dry sticky.

I don't know if it's true, but I heard BD uses Faultless spray ironing starch to attach his grips. ::)

This is what I used with mine:

http://www.loctiteproducts.com/produ...d=148&plid=614

Available at any Wal-Mart. Put a thin layer all the way around the bar, about 3/4 of the length of the grip. Slide the grip on. In about an hour you will NOT be able to get it back off without major work and in 24 hrs it will not come off without cutting up the grip.

Yep...hairspray is what I used too.

I figure if I ever wanted to remove it I could, but it's on there pretty good.

Hair spray...... who would have thought? I was going to use a super glue type, but I think maybe I'll try the hair spray . If nothing else just to see ....Thanks for the feedback :)

I've always used the grip glue. Be sure to use something long enough to reach down in the grip and put glue down inside on all of the rubber contact points. That way it can't twist while gripping the grip when pushing or pulling the bike to move it around.

+1 on the hair spray...this is the only good use that I have ever found for this product. I have used this on several different bikes and have never had a grip come loose until I wanted it to. I heard about this trick from an old Indian mechanic friend of my dad's. He also used upholsters spray adhesive on bikes that he knew were going to take serious abuse like dirt bikes, but stuck with the hairspray for street bikes. He liked it because he could get the grips back off with a little time and hot water and then reuse them later.

while I haven't tried it myself I have heard that hairspray works great also. On my previous bike I didn't have anything on the left grip and never had any problems.
