HID Headlights
I am going to be installing an HID bulb in a friends Honda 1300 and this looks like a heck of a job to do. It isn't just a light bulb here friends. It is a bulb, transformer, controller, and a bunch of wiring. The VTX headlight bucket looks big enough to fit some of the stuff, the rest will go under the tank. My question is, has anyone put an HID on their Nomad? Is it worth the time and money? He paid $65 for his kit which I thought was very reasonable but it looks like it is going to be an afternoon project. Anybody here do it?

I believe SinCityStan installed one on his '09 Nomad. He has a few photos under the Nomad Garage- 1700 Nomad & Voyager. The post is '2009 Nomad, Upgrades w/ pics'.

HID Headlights
I use the sylvania silverstar ultra. It is brighter and whiter than all other bulbs, without going to the trouble of going hid.

HID Headlights
don't care for lights being any brighter than they have to be. Especially from oncoming traffic. Including bikes.
sorry... not really... pet peave

I agree, those Lithium lights are o.k. for the backraods but in traffic they are a hazard. Most are on b.m.w.s and Lexus and the drivers have that "attitude",like to get right up on your tailgate and I slow down until the pass then my G.M.C. hi beams do their thing.

I did the conversion. It's true, the wiring can be a little daunting depending on how complex you want to make it. I provided a schematic in one of the threads and some pictures in others. Note this is a complex lighting control.
That being said. If you go with the HID be sure to follow the aiming procedures in the MOM. I did and have never been flashed by another vehicle for too bright lights. Is it better than the off road 60/110 lamp? I had one on a previous bike and can say the HID probably is no brighter. The reason I installed the HID was visibility. The HID and two halide crashbar lights give a distictive multi-color, triangular target to oncoming traffic. Now I'm trying to put together something just as noticable for the back of the bike. Will post once I come up with it. Good Luck with whatever direction you go.
