Exhaust gasket info needed
Hey all,
I am getting my xmas gift early, like this week and wanted a little inside help. I am getting new exhaust, Roadhouse Dooleys. Yes it took a while to convince my backseat driver that the extra cost was worth it since it made the bike more safe, without being too loud. She bought it. Anyway, I read that the general opinion was that the gaskets from HD were better and also saw the screaming eagle were less restrictive. I want to be prepared and have extra gaskets on hand. Does anyone have an opinion either way and do I need a specific pn? Login or Register to Remove Ads |

The pn I have is 17048-98 is for the HD gaskets. I'm told they are thicker than the Kaw gaskets and I din't have a problem or any leaks after the installation. I can't remember the price, but they were reasonable. I thought I got this information from Gadget's site but I couldn't find it. I got the pn off an extra set that I bought. I always get 2or 3 of an item like this. Hope this helps!

Congrats on your new pipes. You ought to like your RH.
The harley gaskets are definitely the way to go if you have a harley dealer close. If I remeber right, the gaskets were like $4. They are thick and crush down nicely

The 17048-98 gaskets are the ones I use as well, they work good and the HD dealer always has them in stock.

Congrats on the Dooleys, your neighbors will love you. I can tell you not to use the manifold gaskets that come with the pipes. When I installed mine, I just use stock Kawas.

i bought the harley gaskets and did'nt use them. they were slightly smaller in dia. and weren't copper and asbestos like the oem. i reused my old gaskets and they worked fine. the harley gaskets were $8.00 for 2 and were just gray fiber gaskets. they did take them back. get the oem gaskets. they may cost more but they are twice the gasket.

Well, where's your report on the Dooleys---you can't be a member of the Dooley gang without a report! That is the rule!!!!!
