A great little ride

I read the thread on why you ride and thought my ride yesterday might evoke some good thoughts. The ride really started in the morning when I got to work and learned I was briefing an Assistant Secretary to the Navy in two hours.. That, and dealing with the time difference between DC and Hawaii meant not finishing the day until I got home at 6 and called St Louis to get an answer from a guy who just flew in from Hawaii. I decided I needed to relax and since we needed a couple of camping items for this weekend I heroically volunteered to go out and get them. Now the ride.
60 degrees dropping to a 50 degree beautiful night. I put on my leather coat with lining, chaps to keep me warm and an open face helmet to let me feel the environment and I turned the speakers to a golden oldies selection. I started off for the store through a backcountry winding road (35-50MPH) then into some major traveled urban roads. A quick stop at the store to find they didn't have what I wanted then onto the interstate. Relaxed and in the groove. No hurry, no worries and no close calls but with that familiar alertness you must have when riding. After a successful store visit a little stop for dinner and another chapter in my book then back on the road. Interstate to urban to country roads and home where my labs were not reluctant to tell me how much they missed me. And that is why I ride.

Nice.
It's almost 1 am and raining with flash flood conditions and I want to go for a ride.
I won't because I'm not a bloomin idiot. I just want to go for a ride.

Skeeter, you're just not bloomin. Just kidding of course.

Sounds like a great ride and that is one of the reasons I ride.
