Heel Guards

I saw these on my friends Harley the other day. I was going to make some but these look pretty nice. They should fit the Nomad floor boards with some washer/spacers:

http://www.eglidegoodies.com/id57.html

They make left and right ones. The left one may be a problem if you keep the heel shifter, though.

Anyone have these?

Pete

Do you have a problem with your feet slipping off the floorboards or something?

No, stops your heel from touching the pipes.

I guess I didn't realize this was a problem. I wear a size 13 boot and have never melted the sole on the pipes. Maybe you guys have restless leg syndrome or something?

We weren't laughing at you, Doc...we were laughing with you.

I find that my feet are generally dangling off the front of the boards.

It's got to be just habbit. My size 13 has a smeared spot on the heel where you can tell I always touch the pipe. I really think it's because I point my knees out rather than hug the tank, but again, just a hard habbit to shake.

ya don't have to have BIG feet to fry your heels. It just happens. Mine are a 10 and Ive fried mine a couple times. my bro fabed up one for his Nomad and it solved the problem. if you drag your feet you wont need the guards. Somebody come up with a good idea for one let me know.

How do you clean the rubber off the heat shield without leaving scratches on it?

When something melted on my shields, I took it to the shot that installed them thinking they were rusting. Good to know that it happens to others also.

Yeah, Doc. I thought so. They actually looked pretty good on her bike and looked pretty effective IMO. I wish I had taken a photo. Plus it's another piece of bling!! Maybe Santa Claus will bring me one this year....

After searching the internet, I belief that brass/steel wool soaked with DW40 will get the job done. If anyone has a better solution. . . ?

I use Eagle One nano chrome polish paste and elbow grease and it will come off after a few minutes rubbing and no damage.

Easy-Off Cold Oven Cleaner on cold pipes. Spray it on cold pipes, let it sit overnight, and it should wipe right off. This is what Cobra recommends for their pipes.

I wouldn't use steel or brass wool on any expensive piece of chrome.
