Washers for Vance and Hines
Hello all,
i just have a quick question if anyone can answer it for me. I'm going to put on a set of Vance and Hines Baggers and i'm told i need to add washers to bolt up to the heads. Does anyone know what size they are? I don't want to take off the acorn nuts until i'm ready to put the pipes on. Thanks Eric Login or Register to Remove Ads |

Some have used no washers with excellent results too. :-)

Harley crush gaskets can be used just as well as the Kawasaki ones. Sometimes they are easier to find and are always in stock also.

The full blown care for exhaust studs is with the system down to wire brush the white oxide off the studs. Match up the exhaust and see what threads will not be covered and so exposed to air, and paint that much in hi temp flat black.
not many will go this far, but i damned well do. i mist the paint into the can cap and use a brush to paint what will be exposed to air. Where the nut goes i antiseize. After you break off enough studs you will see why. I earn a living repairing broken off studs like this, and i charge for it too. Most will come out after some work, but some take over 5 hours, usually depending on how bad the sheared stud is seized in any alloy engine. The steel to alloy does one thing adding heat does another, and adding stainless to the mix can really cause a problem. And I do this anytime the exhaust is down. 3 metals all in close proximity, is going to create galvanic action, and that isn't a good thing.
