***Best Cost Effective Mod?***

I'm looking for my next project... I have an 05 Nomad 1600. I've added LED lights to the bags for running/brake lights, debaffled exhaust, and added some chrome trim to bags, rear fender.

I'm curious as to what you guys have done that would be the next best mod for me to perform that is relatively cheap. Don't have a lot of funds to throw into the bike. Any and all ideas are welcome.

I would say adding a fuel processor, such as a Dobeck TFI or Cobra FI2000R AND modifying your intake with a Caddmann Kit and more open filter would give you a modest performance boost. It will help wake up the 1600 engine and it will run cooler as well.

Not necessarily cheap, though. A fuel module will run $180-$200. The Caddmann mod is very inexpensive. You can get a 9" open filter with housing for less than $20.

Yep what they said, get the cheap nine inch air cleaner. Go to gadget's site and follow the directions.

You didn't say you had so I would add a new horn. Various prices but the stock horn is anemic. From a mod standpoint, it could give you the greatest return on value the next time someone tries to pull into your lane.

Dang, I got replies faster than I thought I would... :)

All of these mods are on my to do list. Except maybe the headlight modulator, only because I want to add spotlights at some point, I really like the 3-light look.

I want to upgrade the air-intake, my only setback is the $200 for the fuel computer. It will be done eventually, though.

Ok, what else do you guys have?

I've got a headlight modulator AND spot/fog lights. There is no such thing as too much visibility. Modulator is only attached to High beam and only works in daylight. Then the other lights come into play.

If your bike is parked in a garage, add a garage door opener to your electronics.

Forget the bling and do a fuel modual, like Cj said, no others you have 2 choices.. TFi and Cobra.... The Caddman filter set up is so cheap, that the real cost is the modual.

That modual should have been number 1 on the list before anything else IMO. Worth it's weight in gold...

If you take some longer trips on the bike a cruise control is worth every penny. It gives you a chance to rest your arms while still travelling. And you can find them for about a $100.00 or less.

i made a pair of highway pegs by getting 2 gate strikers and securing them to the bottom of my footboards, cost $10 and took 5 mins but makes a great spot to put your feet on a long ride.
