Yeah Diesel fuel K-1 and even gasoline will work, so long as it is mild cleaning. If the float bowl is full of green or dark brown mung you will need laquer thinner, if you don't want that gallon can with the strainer inside.

be sure to blow out any and all passage ways both ways. Blow in one orfice and see where the air comes out and blow back in from that end. Do them all.

Do not use blue ATV for a gasket sealer on any part of this. That stiff will go into solution and pack up in the drill way passages.

What carb is this, a Tilotson?

PARTS CLEANER

dont know what kind of carb, its off my Craftsman power washer, like a DUMMY i left gas in it for over 8 months without starting it, and with the florida heat, i think it clogged up somewhere, took it off and cleaned the jets and all, but still wont run, i can get it started if i shoot starting fluid in it but after thats gone it dies,, i figure its got to be those tiny passages that are blocked, so if i soak it in cleaner for a couple hours it may clean it out,,, just didnt know if i could use deisel fuel out of the pump,,,hell of alot cheaper

You should still take the carb apart to clean it properly, don't just soak it intact, as you will not be able to get at all of the passages. I use an old toothbrush to clean the body, and compressed air to blow it out.

Yeah you at least need to pull the carb off the machine and drop the float bowl. Don't be soaking a plastic float in nuthin!

Is the float bowl round bigger than a silver dollar? If so i think I know about which carb it might be...

A brass bolt would hold the bowl on. Inside there is the main jet and another passageway as the idle jet.

Sea Foam is a good cleaner too, as it eats varnish, but you could have a whole float bowl full of varnish, and nothing will just soak that clean.. That would take scrubbing too.

After that when things are in general clean, you still need to blow air both ways thru any and all passage ways.

I have seen what happens many times.. There is about 3 things... the best is the gas evaporated away and leaves a white and tan crusty mung that is dry... The other two depend on water i think.....

One is a sticky brown goo, the other is the same but green. Both are as sticky as molasses.

Usually I take great care to save the gaskets and re-use them.

In addition to all of that I like to take a can of carb cleaner and and blow it through all passages both ways. It's a good idea to wear safety goggles for this. And maybe don't be puffing on a cigarette either.
