1700 Nomad Last Trip Mileage

I have 6450km on bike now. Did a 744km run on Sunday, no passenger, drove between 100-120km/hr and had alot of frontal crosswind, (35km - and gusting) Trip system on bike reported average of 5.6l/100km and when set to Imperial measurement showed 50.3mpg average. My previous average was 41.6mpg riding two up. I must say I am really pleased by this. Hopefully not an anomaly. So far, I really like this bike.

I am just about finished my 1600km break-in and I have averaged 6.2-6.5 L/100km.. if that's what I have to look forward to, I definitely made the right choice in touring bike :) How is it for long distance trips? So far the seat has been very comfy for me. I can see myself doing 1000+ km days on it.

Its pretty good for long trips. Seat is not bad at all. I was more overall tired from driving for 12 hours than I was seat sore from driving for 12 hours. I dont think Ill ever be doing any 1000km rides, unless its all hi-speed main highway stuff. Even that 744km trip was pretty long, we did stop alot to sightsee though and that helped. I find putting some air in the back end make a huge difference in the ride. It already rides pretty good, but add some air and it gets better. Solo I run 10-12, with wife and gear, 18-20. You know about the "dont touch the throttle for 12 seconds" BS, well that seems to be true. Engine idle gets kinda goofy for a bit if you dont after a few times. I disconected my battery before that trip for about 20 minutes just to see if a reset made any differences to the bike. It seemed to run the same but my mileage shot way up as posted. Not sure if thats a coincedence or what but either way Ill take it lol. Ill be real happy if it stays in the 6.0-6.5/100 range. But mid to hi 5's are even better lol.

I have never gotten better than 36mpg on my new 1700 under any road or speed conditions. Its very disappointing.

180 miles on Monday. Two up, loaded up. 37.5 MPG. It's still getting better. Leaving for Yosemite tomorrow. MPG info next week.

How many miles. How fast u drive. Also try disconnecting the battery for 10-15 min to reset the ecm. It seems the ecm can get a bit goofed from touching the throttle early. (dumb I know) I reset mine right before this trip and I cant say that it is the reason for the good mpg, but it might have something to do with it. Also my mileage reports are in imperial which is larger than a US gallon. The 50.3 ='s about 41US mpg. My previous mpg of 41 Imperial is about 34us mpg so we were not that far apart before this trip/reset. Try it and do a good long run.

I am starting to get pleased over my Mileage. When I first got the Nomad it was about 33. Now, several months later, it is 37.6 and still seems to be rising and that is a mixed city/highway driving.

I am interested in more information on the mileage. I just got back from a long trip, for me, and traveliing at 125km/hr using the cruise control only got me 217 km. When I filled up it took 17 litres. At slower speeds on two lane roads, I have been getting about 240 - 260 km on a tank. I think it should be better.

mileage is still going up 38.3 now from 37.6 on 17 Sep. In April when I got the bike it was a little over 33.

I am not really watching my mpg too closely as i really didn't buy this nomad for fuel mileage.I ride it to enjoy,mostly two up and my speed varies,At each fill up i do look as i am resetting the gauges and looks as though i am around the 34 mpg area most times.I am totally satisfied with that as it is a beautiful looking machine,handles well,and extremely comfortable for me and my wife..........D.J.

I don't know how the Nomad will compare to the Voyager for mileage, but my Voyager consistantly gets 5.5 Km/l. When full the range display will say 370 kms and just for giggles I rode it that far, never did run out! Fuel light comes on around 300 and I went 70 kms further even though the guage needle was deep in the "start pushing" range for 60 kms.
The odometer just turned 40,000 so I'd say she is getting broke in nicely.

Garry, you sure of those figures? Or have you expressed them incorrectly.

If your Voyager gets 5.5 km per litre that would equate to around 25mpg UK, basing it on 4.55 litres per UK gallon, or roughly 22 mpg US.

Should you have said 5.5 litres per 100km as that would make more sense?
That would be around 42mpg UK or 37 mpg US.

I am getting around 41mpg Uk at moment dinking around town, haven't been on long trip yet but that should improve things.

5.5 l/100 km = 51.360170242149486 imp mpg or 42.76628787878788 US mpg. I think that going to the 14th decimal place was a cool touch just to make sure you can squeeze every inch out of your gas.
