Horrible service
This is tangentially motorcycle related. I was bleeding my clutch today and my cheap Harbor Freight vacuum pump wouldn't create a vacuum. Must be a leak somewhere. So I decide to go find a better unit, like a MityVac. Well, neither Autozone or Checker Auto Parts had any, and Harbor Freight doesn't have the model I wanted, so I looked online at Sears. They had several, but only one or two models were stocked locally, so I ordered a MityVac Silverline kit, It's a little more professional grade than the white plastic variety and comes in a handy dandy carrying case.
So the Sears closest to me, in Chandler doesn't have one, but one of the stores in Mesa does (about 20 miles away from me). So I order it and select the merchandise pickup option. I waited around for the email confirming the order and it didn't come. I've ordered this way many times in the past and they are usually pretty quick. So I go to Costco, run a few errands, and return home. I check my email and there is the confirmation: "Your Sears.com order number (blah blah blah) is ready for pick up. So I grab my son and off to Sears we go, 20 miles away. I go to the pickup area and enter my info in the kiosk. A minute goes by and a young man comes and takes my paperwork. A few minutes later, a woman (his supervisor) comes back with my paperwork and said "Sorry, but we don't have the item in stock. Didn't you get our message?" I said "No, I got this email telling me to come pick it up." She said "We called the phone number on your order." I said "well, I left the house for an hour or so and there were no messages on my answering machine when I returned." So she says she will check other stores for me. She comes back and says that no other store has one and would I like her to order it in? I asked why their website said they had them in stock and she couldn't give me a reasonable answer. I told her just cancel the order, credit my card and I'll go on my way. I was so damn mad I could have smacked her. I drove all the way across town for nothing. Sears used to be a good place to shop, but they seem to be as incompetent as anyplace else.

Horrible service
Scott, Over here they are famous for advertising items on sale in the newspaper flyers that they don't have in stock. They just want to get you in the store to show you a more expensive item and talk you into purchasing it. Same story everytime my wife and I head their way to get a great bargain. I've gotten to the point where I don't even look at their sales flyers anymore.

Change the fluid without a vacum bleeder, you dont really need it.
We used to do a lot of shopping at Sears, but the last 3-4 years now we barely go there anymore. The last straw for me was when I bought a TV, and they told me there would be a 20% restocking fee if I got it home and opened the box. I brought it home thought about it, and returned it without opening it the next day.

30 years ago I bought every thing from Sears, I haven't been in one in over 5 years just not the same store they were.

This is is typical these days ::)
My LL has Direct tv, and ancient equipment. he called to get updated equipment last week, and said he is no longer at another address in another town. So where do they go yesterday? To the other town and they never call. My LL called wondering why they missed the time, (all day) And was told why. Then he wanted to see the local news and there is no channles from 1 to 100 period! They did something to the service via satilite. So he called and they told him they did nothing, and everything he has should be on, and to un-plug every thing, which he did, and still it isn't working. You can't get service in the USA anymore for love or money, and maybe not out right murder either anymore.... ::)

Well the rest of my story is going to end different than I thought.
The Direct Tv guy showed up late in the afternoon yesterday. What we were told is by LAW we lost all local stations 1 -100 and would no longer get NH news, but Maine news instead. That didn't fly with my LL a bit, and he told the guy to take his stuff and go. Not only that but my LL called DISH Tv and for 20 bucks less a month, and a free install, we will get local tv and 300 MORE stations than we gid with Direct. This is supposed to happen Fri. Looks like I get a old satilite dish to hang targets on, for so long as it lasts... ![]()

The point of the story was not about bleeding brakes, it was about getting jerked around by Sears.
I am a former auto mechanic, I know how to bleed hydraulic systems. I just prefer to use a vacuum bleeder.

Sears is now just an extension of K-Mart! Growing up, I watched my family and all our neighbors order appliances from no one but Sears, I continued that up until a few years ago when the store changed. A while back I bought a cutter from them and my blade broke. I went on line and they have no record of the model number but I see others and they appear to use the same blades so I try to see if the local store has any, of course not. Like Jack, the store across town claims to have one but this is a $5 blade, it will cost more in gas to go get the damn thing. I wanted to have it shipped but they would not do it, only store pickup. After reading Jack's story, I am not motivated to drive across town for this blade! Good bye Sears!

Don't get me started on K-Mart. I have not been in one since they listened to big mouth Rosie O' and she convinced them not to sell handgun ammo. I never bought any there anyway but that decision told me that they did not want my kind of people or my business so I listened. It was a dark day when Sears and K-Mart merged. (insert funeral dirge here)
