Stock=Debaffled=Aftermarket=?

I am just curious after reading here, how many, if any, did the debaffle job, then bought louder aftermarket pipes to only wish later they had just stuck with the debaffled ones. Thank you

I was very happy with the debaffled, but you can't beat the engineered airflow of aftermarket.

Didn't de-baffel and went V&H 2 times 01 bike and then 06 bike, in the event that in a time for sale or by law i can go back. If that is by law i will go back again to V&H with in a day's time.

De-baffled a couple of years ago. Loud enough for me.

Guess I am the odd ball. Went straight to V&H duals. Sounded great, no real performance change but sounded faster too! But on open road had same complaint as many, too loud.
Friend wanted to buy the V&H (now he's trying baffle mods to quiet down a little) so went to stock and debaffled. Sound ok, but maybe just a little quite but really appreciate that when am riding longer distances.

Odd ball? Nope I have a stock exhaust in Cali.... never see it or need it again, and the other right here and i hope I never need it again...

I never de-baffeled the stock systems ever.. One reason was i wanted to be able to return to all stock if I wanted too, with no delay.

Another reason was i wasn't going to buy a Dutch by pass or build one which is the way I would go if I wanted one.

I saw heat potential even with the by pass and wanted to be cooler.

That 01 cooked me crossing the USA. I bought that bike in late May, and was late getting on the road leaving that mid July. also closiong out apt to never return.

Had it been just cross the country on a bike that's one thing, but to move everything a couple owns, and still cross the country is another.

So that 01 was stock til I hit Cal, where it got 2 tires, V&H Baggers, TFI and a Cadd man, a lot of service work including the swingarm, ft forks even were looked into...

de-baffeled but thinking about V&H. But after riding Talimena Drive the
other day and getting behind a loud bike I'm not sure. I was thankful when they pulled over at an overlook.

You know my answer..........straight to V&H before 1500 miles on the bike and would not trade them for anything............ wonder what my stock one's are doing now ??

It's just an individual personnal preference.
I debaffled the stock mufllers on my 07 Nomad and I like them better then stock, not loud but a decent tone. I also like the sound of V&H, Cobra True Duals and Roadhouse, but on someone elses bike not mine. I had a 2001 800A Vulcan before my Nomad and I changed the stock exhaust to V&H Cruisers. Those Cruisers sounded deeper, louder and really better on my 800 then V&H and Cobras sound on the other Nomads I ride with that have the after market pipes. I rode with those guys when I still had my 800 and they both said they wished their Nomads sounded as good as my 800 did. So... it is an individual thing and now it's more enjoyable when my wife and I ride together on our long weekend rides not hearing the annoying sound of loud pipes and we can talk back and forth without yelling. I have a Stebel air horn and ride daylight hours with a 100 watt hi-beam on, also have the Back-Off flashing break light for safety measures.

P.S. I don't miss my loud exhaust at all.
