Motorcycle Disk Lock

I guess I could have hijacked the alarm thread, but I was wondering if anyone had an opinion on a "disk lock" like this one?

http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com...Disc-Lock.aspx

Seems a good deterrent to the casual thief and a low cost addition. Also, I mentioned it on the other thread, but when you travel overnight, do you or don't you cover your bike when staying at a motel? Thanks everyone...Joe

I cover when traveling. It helps to keep prying eyes and wet stuff off the bike.

I use this half cover (pic link below) from www.tourkingcovers.com

Cost is $40 and rolls up into about the size of a softball.

Good Texas folks up from around Abilene. Talked with the owner last year in Austin at the Republic of Texas Biker Rally www.rotrally.com. He is a rider also.

Don't cover when on a trip. The way my wife packs I need all the room I can get , plus some I don't have. I carry a cloth to wipe the bike down in the morning.

I don't cover it or lock it.

While I would hate to have my bike stolen, rather than worry every day, I just buy good insurance.

the lock is good just don't forget its on there. Some guys hang a shoelace or something around the throttle grip as a reminder the disc lock is on. I cover to keep prying eyes off as well. If someone wants to steal it 4 guys could probably pick it up and throw it on a trailer in which case the disc lock isn't goig to help. I usually run a coated chain through the other bikes I'm traveling with. Hopefully that will deter any would be thieves.

Same on the lock. Don't forget it. A cousin of mine had one on his bike and took off with it on. Before he could ride it again, we had to take the rotor off and turn the lump down on a lathe.

I like to cover my bike. It keeps prying eyes away, and keeps the rain and tree sap off. I've got good insurance too.

I had one similar to that but it was touchy. After a few months it started going off in my saddlebags when it wasn't even on the disc. It got wet once in the rain and never worked again. I did forget is was on and tried to drive off once...you only go about 16" then fall over.
I have insurance...so I don't lock anymore.

I use a cover on my bike when on the road. Don't have a bike lock. Do have what I hope is good insurance, never want to find out.

Motorcycle Disk Lock

I only cover when I put it up for a couple of months in the winter.
Don't really need something else to pack when on a road trip.
