Should I trike it or get a sidecar?

Found a vendor that will trike the Nomad and or attach a side car. I have been thinking of doing one or the other, but not sure which way to go. I understand this vendor uses a ford rear end, so the nomad still has the drive shaft, but you could have more cargo space with a side car. Check this out, prices are very reasonable.

That's probably the best looking Nomad trik conversion I've seen.
They don't say anything about reverse, I hope that's included in the conversion

They are both really nice looking units, it would be a tossup as to which one.The trike kit is probably more permanent whereas the sidecar is probably removable if you want a two wheeler sometimes.

Ever ride anything of these either way? Both are not at all like a bike. A side car is the hardest of all to get used to. All handling is different than any bike.

I have a Tow-Pac trike kit on mine. You can take it off in 10 minutes and go two wheeling again. There isn't any alterations to the bike either. When you trike it, YOU have to steer it. No leaning of course. It cost about $4000. Also there is another kit called the Voyager. It has bigger tires. By the way, Tow-Pac is just over the line in Illinois.

Depends on what your looking for, your comfort, passenger comfort, touring or shorter distances. As Mac indicated they are both a very different handling experience. Try and find both set-ups to test ride, this along with your own list of personal needs will help you determine the best option.

I agree with TC and Sam, this is the best looking trike conversion I have seen for the Nomad. looks to be about $10,000 for the total pkg though.

I like the looks of both. my first thought is the side car would be cheap, so go for that, but honestly you ought to try both before making the decision.

Hey nomadderdadder. I've been thinking about a Tow-Pac for a while now but my husband says my Nad would be nearly impossible to steer. How hard and different is the steering? I realize you don't lean anymore, but is the steering fairly easy?

It is hard to tell how hard it is to steer. The sharper the curve the harder it is. Now a Goldwing is easy. Rake angle they say. If you live close to Tampa, you can ride mine. They are made in northern Illinois. We like it because of the security. Don't have to worry about it falling anymore when you come to a stop. I'm not 6ft. We love it.

Boy that is a good looking trike kit, not to keen on the sidecar. Just kind of looks gaudy to me.

Nomadderdadder: I have seen those "ride on" kits and I do like the idea of turning it back into a bike with the turn of a wrench. I was looking into one for a friends Goldwing and the price is real reasonable too. He had knee surgery and wanted it so he could still ride while he healed. Unfortunately, he is a little over 400 pounds and I don't ever see him riding again. Sad, sorry I drifted. I would go with the trike kit though. Looks a lot smoother lined. Just MHO.

That Spyder is one bad little machine. I went to the dealer for a friend of mine and did all the research for her and Can Am did a heck of a job on this one. I would love to take one for a spin. Be careful though, they are deceptively fast. All the bells and whistles, cruise, anti lock brakes, throttle by wire, alarm system, auto leveling while cornering, you name it, it has it.
