Prayers Needed

Hey Everybody,
My sister Alicia Carawan was in a jet ski accident today and is in ICU. She has a broken back but it did not affect her spine. The doctor says it will heal. Thank goodness. She also has a few broken ribs, her lungs are bruised, and the doc is concerned about one of her kidneys. She is under morphine and is resting but does mumble in pain. The feel she is doing well enough that they may take the oxygen mask off tomorrow, but there is a possibility of them having to intebate her to help ease the pain she has when breathing. I'll keep you all informed as I know more.

So sorry to hear this. Thoughts with her and your family. Although intubation scares lots of folks, there are times when it is a good thing. If they do, she can receive more pain meds and sedation as her airway will be supported and intubation will assist her to take deeper breaths to more fully expand the lungs to help prevent pneumonia setting in. Keep us posted.
