Speaking of drips

I have a black on black (no flake just black) Nomad and it really likes to attract the sun/heat. If it sits in the sun long enough I can see fumes coming from the gas tank overflow tube. The funky thing is the stain it leaves is black? I would think it would be grey but not black.
I tried the search function to no avail. Anyone else have this issue?

where is the black stain? you didn't say?

I've been puzzling over the same thing on my new 08. A little black spot right under an overflow hose and it smells like gas.

I just got the shop manual the other day. Give me a couple of days to see if I can find out what it is. I'm sure it's not fatal ,but just for curiosity sake. I'll post again if I can find somthing.

Thanks xgringo! That makes sense that the vapor run off is black due to it's origins. I wasn't too worried just curious.
