valve clatter
Ever since I put my hypercharger on about 3 years ago I have noticed alot of valve clatter when ridding two up. When I am about half throttle I was wondering if anyone else with a open air intake has noticed this while ridding if I cover up the intake opening I cant hear it anymore. It seems to go away if I roll on the trottle but at constant speeds its always there. I run 10/40 semi syn I was wondering if going to a syn or maby a 20/50? any thoughts would be great.

I have a K&N filter and It doesn't make any unusual noises, I wonder if its your cam chains your hearing, and when you roll on the throttle it tightens them up a bit more and they quite down.

Food for thought, I know Mac, will help better than me, but just an idea. Do you still have the ISC Valves still in, if so they could be making clattering noise.

Mid Rpm valve clatter? I doubt it. The lifters are getting good oil at mid range rpms..
Might be the chains, and with a longer ratchet extension you might hear them. Run up some rpm in neutral easy Hold the bloomin brake too, and put the rod to the cam chain gallery and or on the chain adjuster housing and then you ear to the rod. Other wise you could take a nasty bump on the ear.. get the rod steady first. Same deal if you get a tech stethescope. Maybe more so, set the rod tight, and then with one hand get the ear parts on. If you don't do it that way you will certainly find out why. Now about the hyper charger. Are you sure it isn't the butter flies poppin closed and bangin open? I might suggest pulling off the vac line, plug it so no vac leaks happens that instant, fire the bike and go rode with the flappers wide open and not clatterin araound any. If that happens to kill the noise just leave the flappers open all the time and or manuall close them when the bike is off. I suspect the drop in engine vacuum when you roll on is allowing the spring to hold the flappers open, which is the way this set up works.

Its not the doors on the hypercharger because I dissconnected them about a year ago the vaccume diaphram kept failing so I just leave them open all the time and sealed off the vaccume port.

Settles that don't it.... I would choose a floppy cam chain over collasped lifters, unless and I doubt it, the oil change is/was over due.

You should NOT be getting valve clatter at highway speed. At idle yes.
