stalling issue
I have an 07 1600 Nomad, low miles. Lately I’ve been having a problem with the bike stalling. I could be cruising at a constant speed, lets say between 40and 50. While slowing down to come to a stop or just because traffic slows down, the engine would die. I hit the start button and it starts up immediately. At other times it dies when I’m taking off from a stop.
Can anyone help? Thanks Login or Register to Remove Ads |

1. Clean throttle bodies with carb cleaner/seafoam and spray some down them at high rpm
2. Set your warm idle up to stock 950rpm at idle(black knob under right air cleaner) That should fix it. Mine has done the same thing. Dennis |

Thanks Dennis. I'll do it today when I get home from work. I'm
glad to hear that it's not something worse. Henry |

My 06 used to do it before the TFI install. Has not done it since.

Once you clean the throttle body with carb cleaner and a toothbrush, you probably won't have to turn up the idle, You may be turning it down instead.

I cleaned them with Seafoam and it seems to be running just fine.
Hasn't stalled yet. Might be my imagination but seems to be running much better, like new again. Thanks Doc. Ringadingh, you were right I did turn it down a bit. Henry |

stalling issue
Once in a while when I flick off my Vista Cruise the engine will stall while I am still moving, but slowing with no throttle.
I am not certain why yet, as it has occured twice, once last year and again once this year. I suspect my throttle plate gets slammed shut to quickly, and maybe, I said maybe, the mix becomes overly rich. I do have a TFI installed. 'IF' I am correct, then the engine becomes starved for air, and the fuel mix drowns the spark. This would only take a split second to happen. I do the throttle body cleaning at each oil change, with the rear gears oil change as habit. Doing so gives me something to do while I wait for the oils to drain, besides chase my wife! ![]()
