Time to order a new front tire. Got 12,000 miles out of my original. Anyone have any suggestions. I put a Metzeler on the rear at 8.000 and have loved it but open to suggestions on the front.

About the most popular choice these days seems to be the Avon Cobra. A couple guys have been very happy with the Dunlop E3 as well. I think the E3 will be the next tire on the front of my bike.

if you already have a Metz on the rear, you may want to match them up though. There have been some not so good comments on the Metz tires lately though, specifically the fronts.

After the last two ME880's, I like my Dunlop, or any other brand besides the Metzeler. They make the bike wobble.

I just put a Dunlop Elite 3 (front) on mine yesterday and balanced it with Dynabeads. My bike has never ridden so smooth and my front end wobble is gone. I didn't like the Metzelers at all. I replaced the rear ME880 about 3 months ago with an Avon Cobra.

I put on an Elite 3 last year and have had no problems with it. Have about 6000 on it and see no signs of any wear. Just put on a Bridgestone on rear(out of desperation) and have about 1800 on it - all seems good!!

I just put an Elite 3 on the front. The original Bridgestone and the subsequent Metzeler both caused a front end wobble at some point in their life cycle. With the Metzeler it was "no wobble" to start with (maybe 2,000 miles), "wobble" for about 6,000 miles, "no wobble" for about 6,000 miles, and then "wobble" again right before I replaced it. Good mileage and I can live with the wobble, but I thought I'd try the Dunlop Elite 3 this time and see if it does better. So far no wobble with the E3, but I only have about 700 miles on it.

I have to replace the original stone on the back after only 6600 miles. I am not real happy. Front is still good. Think I will go with another stone on the back till the front needs to be replaced.

Service Manager at the Dealer said they don't recommend different tires on the front and back, they should stay matched from the same mfg or you will get noticable handling differences.

Don't know how accurate that is, they can replace the original with another Bridgestone at a reasonable cost, but if you venture into other areas, the prices he was quoting are rediculious.

I want to support them, but I am not made of money either.

do some research desertdog, there are a ton of riders out there with "mismatched" tires. stock stoners would be my absolute last choice to replace with. but thats my opinion.

Mine are mismatched at the moment and the bike handles fantastic, the only time the handling sucked was with the ME880,s the last 4-5000 miles.

I wasn't able to find a 150/80/16 Elite 3 front tire. I ended up with a MT90B16 Elite 3 and it has worked out fine. I got a little nervous when I seen the "B" but the tread does run backwards of the rear which I think is right. Also it was listed as a front tire.
