It's all your fault! I kept reading all the posts about car tires and couldn't find a good enough reason not to try it. Tired of buying tires that last 6 to 10,000mi. I went with the Dunlop 5000, currently @ 29psi and about 140mi so far. I am ready to start raising the pressure slowly. Yes did the swing arm and drive shaft, hub went on very smooth but the drive shaft spline was a real B. The only reason I got it back together at all was the encouraging words from my wife (she told me I couldn't do it and to wait until tomorrow). Its done now and am very glad I did it, rides very smooth and holds the road very well. Thanks to all who have gone there before me and blazed the trail, I couldn't have done it without you. THANKS GUYS! :)

Welcome to the Darkside!!

Now, be careful you don't fall off the edge of the Earth.

Your air pressure is interesting. From what I have researched, most start high, around 40-42psi then lower pressure looking for the sweetspot. Haven't been lower than 32 myself, may have to get into the 20's and see what its like.

Enjoy it! And keep us informed.....

PS: Cliff (VulcanE) and I are heading over to Arkansas next week for a couple days, then up into MO and back to Georgia through KY & TN.
We'll be staying around Eureka Springs or Branson, MO Thursday night, June 11th.

Posts like this are pushing me into the Darkness.

I put on a Metzler 880 on the rear about 1k miles ago. The tire has a vibration whenever the tire rolls on its side tread grooves. I understand now that others have experienced this vibration as well on the 880.

I bought my Nomad to be smooth. Now, I am just looking for an excuse to change the rear tire early. It appears the darkside will be my next choice.

Don't know who you bought the tire from, but I had same problem with Metzler.
After over 1,000 miles, sent it back to Dennis Kirk for full refund.
Might want to check out returning for credit/refund.

Send the tire back, Its been my experience that it gets worse as you ride the bike.

+1

The 195/60 R16 fits great, the 205 is VERY close to the drive shaft cover. I think Goose on this site put one on and it fit, but is real tight.

Jesse.....I'm seriously thinkin' about the same tire. May I ask where you got it and how much you paid? I was at the Tire Kingdom down the street from me and the guy quoted me a price of about $150 but said he could probably get it cheaper. They'll mount it if I take it off the bike.

Thanks,

Barry

If I couldn't have found a car tire that fixes the optimistic speedometer I wouldn't have got one I think. Mine is a 185/75/16 tire. 2 inches taller than stock.

The 195/60/16 is the same diameter (acutally a tiny bit smaller in diameter) as the 170/70/16.
