Memorial Day

As I sit here in my family room, comfortable, fed and safe I watch the Memorial Day stories on the news channels and the heroic war movies touting the bravery of our military and I am reminded of those who have made it all possible. Some were lucky and came away with great memories and changed lives. Some gave a part of themselves that can never be fully replaced. We try. New technology substitues arms, hands, legs and feet for what God gave them and war took away. Too many gave everything and will never again see the faces of their loved ones, know the joy of a spring day or spending time with close friends.

I am both proud and sad at the same time. Proud for the millions of patriotic men and women who have made our freedom secure and sad at the millions more in our society today who resent them and don't understand the true price of freedom.

So, let us all take a moment and say a prayer for those who have sacrificed for our comfort and well being. Let us pray.................

Personally, I never forget the lives and sacrifices... but I am afraid we have many that have lived their lives not knowing why they can live as they do...

...and unfortunately it may be a generation or two that doesn't.
