05 Nomad handlebar Shape / Bend
I'm having a hard time with the shape and bend of the '05 Nomad bars in the grip area (too far in for me). Does anyone know if the later models bar design is different, improved? Any insight, facts and input appreciated.

Are you trying to get the bar closer to you? If that's what your talking about, you need risers. I ride an '03 so I don't know what works on a 1600 but there's lots of guys on here that do.

the best risers IMO are the Phat ll from Scootworks. they are big, massive and beautifully chromed. bring the bars back to you about 2 inches and up about 4 inches. Good investment for the 1600.

I do have 4" risers w/ pullback and I'm 6-2 so reach wasn't the issue, just the bend at the bar ends feels like holding a wheel barrel and turned my wrists in an abnormal way. I heard that they changed the bar for the better after '05 and looking for a source of confirmation on that before I buy. I currently have the Baron Star bar and it's OK but not ideal. Thanks for the reply's.

The '08s have the same bars as the '05s, so does the '06s, so I'm assuming the '07s do too. The '09s however are different.

You can loosen the riser bolts and rotate the bars up/down a little. that might help. or change out the bars. i know what your saying. The bars are wide and wheel barrow like.

If the ends of your bars are turned inward so that they are more parallel to each other (like a wheelbarrow) maybe they aren't stock bars or have been modified by a previous owner. Are you the original owner? Is there a dealership nearby that may have an 08 Nomad still in stock that you can compare to? The bars are the same on 2005-2008.

I hear you... my last bike had straight bars and my wrists were completely straight. The Nomad pushes your hands outward which puts a funky stress on your wrists. Maybe some ape hangers would relax your wrists a bit. They make all different heights to fit your needs. You don't have to have your hands above your head to have ape hangers.
