Ok.. have the new 08.. 1600 ish miles.. it feels like something is coming loose in the front tire.. if I am sitting still. and shake the handle bars left and right it almost feels like the front tire "whips" like my bars are going the other direction before my tire catches up and it whips. i sat on a new 08 at the dealer tonight and theres does it, but only slightly.. mine is much worse.. on slow turns the front tire doesn't feel stable. what should I be checking? can't see anything obvious yet. I have the kury fork skins on.. will take them off in the morning..

First check the tire pressure to make sure its not soft, then check the axle to make sure it is tight, it helps to have someone else helping you do this, while your moving the handlebars, the other person can watch for excess play in the steering. It can also be the flex in the frame that you notice, while sitting on the bike shake the handlebars back and forth quickly a couple times. You will find that the bike feels a bit like jello for a second, this is the flex Im talking about. The 2009 bike have stiffer frames and don't do this.

If you have a lift maybe pick it up a little and check the wheel for play while someone holds the bars. I've never noticed this on my '07.

I get that from my 01 as well. Thought that was a problem. but I guess it is just frame flex. If I whip the handlebars back-n-forth and then stop fast, the bike front end does feel like jello. My friends 03 does the same thing.

yea, jello.. good way to describe it I guess.... the 08 at the dealer didnt feel nearly as "jello-ish" though.. I'll have to take the fork skins off today or tomorrow and give it a once over.. actually got a bit nervous on the ride home.. losing a front wheel would totally ruin my weekend!!!

dabull.. I was in the parking lot.. they had em all lined out outside.. I dont' think they like me much, I bought my bike from another dealer cause they were 1400 bucks 2 high. They still have 3 08 nomads in stock. They are going to stay instock unless they bring the price down.. anyways.. yea, it was tested ashphalt to ashphalt

It might sound dumb but are your handlebars bolts tight under the triple tree ? The dealers install the handlebars I think. Maybe they forgot to torque them down ?

dealership floor was a shot in the dark...i get the whip too...i noticed it a couple of weeks ago so i will be watching to see what you come up with;)

I notice it too, worse with Avons than stock tires.

well, I checked the front axle nut.. I got a half turn on it. my tire pressure was at 35, I raised to 40 just for grins. checked my handlebar riser bolts, good and tight. rolled her off the ramp and gave it a shake.. same freakin thing. The good news is my piece of mind that my wheel isn't going to fall off. Now as I stated, I jumped on the dealers stock 08. it did it, but NO way near as much. Now my bike has the phat II's. so that's 4 inches of rise and 2 pull back I believe. maybe that's causing more than the stock risers???
