Calling Cactusjack- Stebel Mounting Question
Hi CJ,
After reviewing several pics of Stebel installations I decided to mount my Stebel Horn like yours. Sorry...no prize involved....well on second thought maybe a cold beer whenever we meet someday. I think your mounting location will work best for my 1500...I have the ignition to deal with (that you don't) but it still seems like the logical location. I see how you mounted the Stebel bolt to your bike but did you do any secondary brackets or zip ties to reduce vibration? How long have you had yours mounted? Any issues with it being in the way? Thanks Schoeney

Calling Cactusjack- Stebel Mounting Question
I flipped the stock bracket end-for-end, meaning that the end that was attached to the frame is the end that now is attached to the Stebel, and vice-versa. I've had it that way for close to a year with no problems, it has never worked loose and I have no issues with it getting in the way of my size "baker's dozen" boots.
![]() If you look closely at how it's mounted in the picture above, you'll see that I used a SS bolt and large SS washer to hold it tight. I hope this helps!

Calling Cactusjack- Stebel Mounting Question
It does help. Thanks.
I have a different bracket on the 1500 but I can make one up. My main question was answered....doesn't sound like you used anymore than just the one bolt. I like the way it sits out of the way in that "void". Thanks for the help!!

Calling Cactusjack- Stebel Mounting Question
I mounted mine in that same void but mocked up a bracket out of aluminum. Stock bracket sucks and all wavy and thin crap. I used 3/16 inch thick by 1 inch by 5 inch long strip. Drilled a hole at each end and mounted the Stebel. it was a free homemade bracket but is rock solid without any vibration. been in place for 1 year.

Ditto - made a bracket from zinc-plated steel (later painted with Rustoleum in flat black) and bent it / drilled holes to make the horn fit just right. Very easy undertaking!

Calling Cactusjack- Stebel Mounting Question
Hi, I used 3/16 by 1 1/4 stainless. I put a 3/4 offset in it to get the Stebel further away from the gear shifter. I used the original horn mounting hole on the frame and mounted the horn relay and ground to the back of the bracket. Rock solid.
