100 Miles per tank full

Just curious. I only get 100 highway miles per tank before I have to switch to reserve. Does this sound right?? The only mod that has been done is it is jetted and a Hypercharger. The Hypercharger and jets where put on before I got the bike so I am guessing it is the jets that came with the kit. Sound about right??

For a 99, I'm afraid so. When I first bought mine, I took it to the mountains and it coughed and made me switch to reserve at 97 miles! I couldn't believe it! I do have a Thunder intake and rejetted. Bike runs amazing, but just gets terrible mileage. I average between 30-36 MPG depending on where I'm riding. That's why I put in the aux tank, just to extend the range. Now I can go 200 miles between fuel stops.
It's my only gripe about my Nomad, but everything else more than makes up for it.

The FI bikes do get much better mileage.

That was one of the things that Kawi improved on the later bikes, a larger gas tank tank, a lot of guys complained about the short range on the early Nomads.

Geez audio, imagine how low your MPG would be if you rode faster.

I for get what the 1500 tank holds in gallons... 4.?? something I think. I'ld like to say you should get better than that, but probably not with a carbed bike.

My injected 01 had the yellow light come on at 138 miles like clock work, 2 up with a trailer in tow. I have no idea if that would be different solo and no trailer, because I never rode that bike solo anywhere near that far to find out. That seems nutty probably, but I bought that bike to do one thing, and that was tour the USA. I only had that bike 361 days.

It's that damned car tire eating up your gas.
On a serious note, since installing the TFI, my mileage averages 36 - 37 riding 2 up. I was averaging 39 before, but the performance and cooler running engine makes up for the mileage loss.

On my 99 I was hitting reserve at 110 miles. I was jetted with a thunder intake and pipes.

Mac, it's a 4.2 gal tank, with one of the gallons as reserve.

I'm usually hitting the reserve switch anywhere between 115 and 125 miles on the tank. I have V&H pipes and jetted carb.
