Anti-Freeze question

Are automobile and motorcycle coolant/anti-freeze interchangeable?

Anti-Freeze question

I hope so, I've been using Prestone premixed for years.

As long as it's rated for aluminum radiators it will be fine in the bike.

Anti-Freeze question

I've been using Kawasaki Aluma-Cool in mine, mixed 50/50 with distilled water.

Anti-Freeze question

I was told to use MC or Auto antifreeze (without silicates). I think you can find several products available that are for MC's under $20.00 gal. I think the key would be "for aluminium 2-4 cyl." written on the package.

Anti-Freeze question

Just went out to the shed. Maxima Coolanol 50/50 blend deionized water, helps prevent rust.
Sticker says $14.99, 64 oz., but is probably more expensive by now.

Anti-Freeze question

I just put this in last week: http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc...er=540721_0_0_

Says it is good for 5yrs/150k. Bike is cooling fine, container says it is yellow in color but looks greenish. Autozone has about 6 different kinds and a chart on the wall that says which is which and what they contain. None say anything about motorcycles, but do say OK for aluminium. I think about 4 out of the 6 would work fine.

It is also a very easy job, but you need the tank off. Drain radiator, the pump, and the reservoir. Then fill it up, let air out of pump. Ride it till hot, and when cool top off the reservoir.
