Whats with you yankees?

When I see the other guy in Vermont that rides a motorcycle I always wave to him and he waves back, but all the bikers that come from out of state don't always wave back to me.

DAMNIT!!!
Sorry Fish! I didn't mean to indict all PA riders. I was just giving a tongue-in-cheek hard time to the ones mentioned that didn't wave. Are you anywhere near Pittsburgh? I get there occasionally. If I get the chance I will look you up. You can give me three lashes with a wet noodle and then I will buy you a beer, or two, or three!
I'm from the other eastern part of the state about 300 miles east. Although I'll take you up on the beer
I thought maybe thats what you meant. Its mostly the HD bikes, I see it too.

Guess I'm one of the dickheads. Back in the 70's when there were not many bikes on the road we all waved back and forth. Now there are so many bikes on the road that my left handlebar grip was still new after 10,000 miles. (well, almost) Guess I just got tired of it. Stopped waving at everyone and his or her brother on the highway, still stop to help out a fellow two wheeler and that is what counts in my book.

I was actually thinking about starting a post to ask how many of you wave back and forth. I've noticed that when there is a gathering of bikes for a large rally of some kind that pretty much everyone stops waving because you would not be able to drive. So, does the magical - howdy do - wave only apply when bike traffic is sparse? Dickhead out.

In PA, they're probly too busy watching out for potholes, or "SKI-JUMPS" in the roadway, and afraid to let go or the grip long enough to wave.

No need to go and change your name! Idaho sounds better anyway,

The real reason for the low wave is to let others know there are Harley parts on the road again.

I'm pretty damn sure that a guy tried to "low" five me today. lol We were pretty damn close.

And, Sam, easy on the Yankees. I'm a damn yankee myself, at least that is the description all of my friends in TN give me. Even though I've been in TN for 23 years and only Indiana for the first 16.

My feeling is you find those that wave and don't wave everywhere. And there are just too many variables to why they wouldn't wave. They could have been concentrating on something else, could be new and don't want to remove the hands from the handlebars, or could just not like to wave. Who cares. If you wave because you want something in return, then what's the sense?

Just wave if you can and you want to, and if you don't, that's fine, too.

A nod, a wave, its just an acknowledgment of those who have similar experiences and stories on the road.
Over here you get about 80% acknowledge back. Caravaner's are also the same, maybe for the same reasons? experiences and stories?? Must admit its the HD'ers and posers who cant be bothered, so who cares.

Same here....
+1 The only ones that I have found that are hesitant to wave are crotch rocket riders. Usually " squids" that don't give a rip about anyone, but themselves.

Alot of guys on Harleys won't wave. Also, could be they were afraid to take one of their hands off the bars ;)

I used to wave to every bike I would meet.
But when I wave and the person doesen't wave back I feel like I have been insulted. I don't like being insulted. How freekin' hard is it for a person to wave back.
If you are the kind of person who doesn't want to wave back then I don't care to know you anyway, so now if someone waves to me, I wave, if they don't then my hand stays on the grip.
Don't get me wrong, I will stop to help anyone on the side of the road I think needs a hand.

Whats with you yankees?

I drove up to here Marietta(between york and lancaster) PA. Since HD's are manufactured in York , I have no problem believing this. I live about an hour west of there and about 90% wave. There seems to be a very strong relationship among HD riders, some how they can sence metric bikes from a long distance and dont wave. However most will. I have a friend who I grew up with we rode together in the 70's and 80's. We both got away from bike riding for years and both got back into it within 3 months of each other he rides a HD I dont, says the Nomad is a nice bike but its not an HD. I said yeah I know thats why I bought it. You know he has never asked me to go riding with him yet. Now I wouldnt even if he did happen to ask. I do ride with other HD riders My brother and my cousin have one and many other friends. As far as I'm concerned if your on 2 wheels your a friend, even if you do ride an HD.
