185/75/16. 27" tall. Barely fit. If you want a good chuckle do a search and read Bud's trials and tribs trying to mount that heavy duty tire by hand! He started breaking his tools! He gave up and had it mounted!!

Continental Vanco 8 Highway ribbed summer tire. I ordered it. It's going to be real hard to find now.

It's discontinued but Continental has other Vanco series tires in 185/75/16.

The good news about all of that is my machinist welded the tire changer back together no charge. I used it to mount the front tire and it worked great. I now believe the secret is LOTs of soap.

The Vanco 8ply light truck tire works great. The weekend I put it on I took the bike to Jackson Hole and ground pegs on both sides of the mountain. GREAT tire!

Car tires

Dan I run a Vredestien Comtract light duty truck tire in 175/75/16. I have about 500 miles on it and now starting to lower tire pressur by 2lbs at a time and ride for awhile to find the sweet spot. I have a question for the darksiders. This sweet spot, what am I looking for? Like to see what opions are there on this. Might help Dan in the future and others as they slide to the alter ego of the light side!

For me the 'sweet spot' would be the lowest pressure I can run without getting any sqirming in the handling. That could be anywhere from 26 to 32. Remember that most of these tires are designed to support a car or truck weighing from 3000 to 4000 lbs with suggested inflation pressures of 28 to 35 psi. If you leave the pressure too high you will wear out the center of the tread pretty quickly. You also don't want to go so low that the tire is under-inflated. That lowest pressure is going to depend on the individual bike and rider.

This is just my opinion, others may have better explanations of the 'sweet spot.'

Don't worry you'll know the sweet spot when you find it. I'm at 28 psi in my Continental which is similar to your Vred. I'll try 26 this weekend. The heavy duty tires need to run at slightly less pressure than the CT sport tires.

If you look at your tire with the bike on the side stand the tire should not look round. It should have a flat spot at the bottom. You want it to look like the pressure is a little low.

I know that it sounds weird but try it as you become more acclimated to your bikes handling characteristics with that truck tire. You need some more sidewall flex.
