I made a shade out of thin Lexan which can be purchased at Lowes for about $4.00.Lexan cuts like butter and you can bend it without breaking.I cut it,bend it and paint the inside surface with black painT. You cat attach it with Velcro etc. While this works good I use three different GPS (NOT ALL AT ONCE)and did not feel like making three different shades so I ordered the Glare Stomper which will fit all three of my GPS(Garmin 2610,255W,and a Mio 330).Ebay price was 13.97 shipped which is a little cheaper than their on line store.

I made a Lexan one too. painted it flat black and mounted it on a RAM box. Worked fine. I just bought one of the Glarestompers to see how well it works. Simple yet elegant.

As far as GPS's go, the best feature is the one that allows you to take whatever road you want and get lost as hell; the GO HOME button. Never been lost, just mighty bewildered.

My GPS doesn't seem too bad with glare. I would like to see the screen colors darker during the day though. That would help see it better.

My GPS has a "night-mode" that automatically changes when it gets dark so the glare from a bright-screen doesn't blind you at night.

What I would like to do is figure out where the sensor is that changes it to night-mode. If I can cover it to fake it out, then the night-mode colors and contrast would solve any problem I would have.

I have covered the entire unit to try to simulate it being dark out; but it still won't go into the night-mode. Strange... but I'll keep working on it.

I, have a Garmin do not know what you have but when the unit first comes on go to Tools menue and select settings from there select color mode and from there you can select day-night or auto select night and OK and mine will be in night mode all of the time then.

Mine does the same thing but I'd think the "night" mode would be even more difficult to see?

I, never tried the night mode in the day time so do not know how that would work. I do know that the brightness set a 100% does help. I, have the Glare Stomper and that does work 98% of the time. Tried one of those shades that goes on your car window to block the sun but that did not work at all.

Mike, I think you need to go easy on the Robitussin, buddy!

The glare is from Brad's crisply pressed riding shirts.
Not gonna do it! I godda git shud of this cough.

I rattle his cage and all I got was an eye roll!

Maybe BD's feeling a little under the weather and needs some Robitussin. Or maybe some Homemade Floor Huggin' Fire Water Iradale Corn Juice. That ought to bring him around. You could use to get a snarky come back from time to time. Maybe he's just old.

Really? How in the heck does that happen? Figures I couldn't get it to work.

Most certainly if I could get mine to night-mode then glare wouldn't be a problem at all because the darker contrasts would overcome any glare.

I have a Magellan.
