Nachez Trace Ride MS to Nashville

Getting on the Trace at Clinton tomorrow morning about 6:30 headed toward Nashville. I kind of doubt Vickie will make it all the way on her Ninja but she might. Almost 400 miles is a lot in one day for a newbie riding a bike. I probably couldn't do it on a Ninja. My back wouldn't make it. I'll check out the stops along the way and take some pictures.

The trace ride is great! There's hardly any traffic except for the deer and turkey. Vickie is doing great on her Ninja with no complaints. She even got 100 mpg on one tank! (went 101 miles and it only took 1 gallon to fill it up). I got a consistent 47mpg on the Nomad. We stayed in Franklin last night and are heading back this morning. Great trip if any of you can make it next time. It's a little cool this morning (51 degrees).

Just got home from the trip (11 1/2 hours today). It was a perfect weekend for riding. If anyone wants to do the Trace ride there has been new pavement put down for about 35 miles between Jackson and Kosciusko. The road is great shape but they haven't painted the lines yet and they are doing some road work on the shoulders. There is one spot close to Franklin where they are building a new bridge and it's 30 mph through the site. There are no detours right now. We did three gas stops going up (Kosciuscko, MS, Tupelo, MS and Collinwood, TN.). If you do the 3 gas stops and maybe a couple of bathroom breaks it is at least 10 hours or more going from Clinton, MS to the double arch bridge at Franklin. We made a side trip in Alabama coming back so that's why the 11 1/2 hours. If you did the full trip to Natchez add a couple more hours. The Nomad did great. Got anywhere from 46-52 mpg between all the stops. Vickie's Ninja averaged about 80 mpg. Maybe we can do another trip in October. I only saw two other Nomads the entire trip.

Sounds great Bobby.. I rode about 350 miles today. Got on the Trace in Clinton and went down to Natchez with an old Harley buddy. Ate the Shoney's breakfast buffet and came back on 84 and 55. And Jim my bike is getting in the high 30's now instead of low 30's like before. So that little bit of dialing in helped a lot. Still can't wait to get those new pipes on next week. Jamie
