As Mac says the closer you get down to where the tire is vulcanized to the cords the more substantially weaker the tire becomes. I had about 2500 left on my stock stone before I went to the truck tire. 9K miles later I see no wear yet....

After this and some others opinions, I am going to ride the next month on the E3's and then switch out to a car tire prior to the rally. No more worries. Getting ready for the darkside.

It seems to me that any tire, car or motorcycle, would have to be safe as long as the tread hasn't worn down past the tread wear indicators. Usually, that is with 2/32s left on the tread. Otherwise the manufacturers would be liable for all sorts of nasty stuff. IMO.

From what I have seen a 205 only has a credit card thickness of clearance between the tire and the swing arm. Too close for me; I went with a 195-65-16 it's real close to the stock MC tire circumference.

I am at that stage too. I look at that Bridgestone and I am thinking why risk stretching another 1000 out of it.

The new tire is sitting there and I am reading through Mac's swing arm servicing again. My friend here is telling me the swingarm is still good at 15000 miles?

IF it was properly greased at the factory. Many have found out there was hardly any grease in the swingarm.

If it was me, I would service the swingarm.
