Purolator Pure One PL14610 and..

I too use the supertech filter. I've been using it on all 4 of my last bike and haven't ever had any problems. It's only $2.77 and when I see they have them in stock I usually buy 5 or 6 filters.

As far as oil, I've used a lot of different oils in the past. On my VN 900 I used the Valvoline MC oil. Autozone had a sale on it and I bought 24 quarts. I changed it out every 2,500 miles. After about 2000 miles I notice the shifting getting ruff.

On my first Nomad I ran the Valvoline also. No problems. I changed it at the same intervals.

On my currant Nomad I will be using Mobil 1 fully synthetic MC oil. The reason is because the previous owner changed over to synthetic oil and I've been told that once you got to synthetic, it's best to stay with it. (who knows if that's true?) I might try using the Rotella in the future. Several have used it and I've never heard anyone have anything bad to say about it.

Flush? If so should I use your basic engine flush that most about stores sell?
Should I wait until a certain mileage? Currently I am approaching 5000...on my 08.
Thanks
No flush needed. I switched from dino to Mobil 1 synthetic 10w-40 motorcycle oil at 3,000 miles. I've tried the Mobil 1 20w-50 motorcycle oil in the heat of summer but went back to the 10w-40 and will stay with it. I use the Super Tech ST7317 from Wal Mart. No problems experienced.
So CJ,
How is the Synthetic in relationship to shifting? Good, Better or about the same?

Most claim that synthetic is smoother and runs cooler.

Been told that once you put synthetic into either car or motorcycle engine you never have to change it all you change is the filter. I cannot verify this info nor do I trust it. I use synthetic on all vehicles & have been for several yrs. I always change oil & filter at same time. If synthetic is smoother & cooler for bike I will use on next change

One more for the road....
If I select to go to Synthetic "will it" or "could it" void my warranty?

Watch that yellow Purolator filter it could rub your brake line into. it did chaff mine till i changed it out. ive used alot of different oils now using Mobil-1 10W-40 bike syn oil. Not sure I like it any better since bike lurches forward on the first start up of the day now its cold out even warming it up for 5 minutes. It never did that with the turbo-diesel oils??

Yes when you first pop it in first gear. I had it sitting for about 2 weeks this winter and I knew it was going to do it and sure enough it lurched about 2 foot and died. then it was fine but repeats it again on nearly every first ride of the day. Clutch is working fine no slippage.
