That Burnt Smell

I smelled it the other day and found that apparently either the relay had failed and shorted or a lead wire on the spots had shorted and melted the wire insulation on the wire coming off the relay to the spotlights......the wire was still good as tested by a meter but the insulation was shot....also a melted area on the side of the relay....have replaced relay and cut out melted insulation and all is good now.

That Burnt Smell

Well I have looked high and low inside and out and still I see nothing burnt, leaking or melted.
I followed everyone's pointers and nothing.
I will keep a close eye on it just to be safe.
Thanks

That Burnt Smell

As I recall, my bike had that "new bike smell" for the first couple thousand miles (about 3 weeks). That was just stuff (oil/paint) burning off the exhaust system inside and out as they were brand new.

If you're smellin while riding, could it possibly be your upper lip? Just be glad it's not burning human flesh, thats the worst smell I have ever smelled.

Hmm....

Maybe it's diet-related....and no, not the bike's gas either.

Ring if he sniffs the seat area to much he might be a gorp and smell only last nights sausage and onions. :)
