Meanstreak clutch spring
For my son's bike. He currently has a Barnett HD spring, but he's selling this bike to a friend. Problem is, friend has arthritis and needs a softer pull. So, son has been looking all over and can't find the new spring. All on back order. He has ordered one through Partzilla but has no idea when it will be available. Question to all of you: Anyone know a source that has them now? Anyone have an extra they'd be willing to sell to him now, in return he'd sell the one he has on order to you when it comes in. Or trade yours for his Barnett? Anything. The friend's birthday is coming soon and his wife is buying it for his present, would like to have it ready for that.

The Meanstreak Spring is the way to go. Many years back I installed the Barnett spring and took it right back out. Someone has the Meanstreak Spring and or the OEM spring until the Mustang Spring is back in stock.

If i recall correctly, you can take the 3 thin sprung washers, that sit like this )() out, to make the lever action easier.

Interesting Mick, I'd never heard that. Anyone here able to confirm the limiter disks can be eliminated with the Barnett spring?
Dragonlady? Thanks |

Babbits...good folks to deal with and they don't strafe your wallet for shipping charges like ronayers.com does.

You cannot leave one of them out or install them in the wrong order and have your clutch function. The best set up is the 2002-2003 MeanStreak spring with the Judge's washers. Those 2 years are the only high performance spring MaKaw ever put in the 1500/1600s. The 1600 MS springs are just Nomad/Classic springs. If you take tension off the spring IT WILL slip. Just physics and common sense. Does anyone know what those 3 reverse torque limiter springs actually do?

Limiter Springs
MAS I would like to know. This winter I will be replacing the OEM spring, along with judges washers.

The 02-03 1500 MeanStreaks were the only Kaws to use the heavy spring.
I have used them in both 1500 and 1600 Nomads and Classics as well. The reverse torque limiter springs allow the clutch to slip when reverse torque is applied. In other words, they keep the wheel from chirping when you downshift. Judge's washers keep the spring from wearing. Check out the archives at VROC.org. If you're happy with the way the stock spring performs, then use a new stocker with the JW's. Check out what Gadget wrote years ago, and look at the picture of the 2 springs. https://www.vulcangadgets.com/files/...placement.html
