What would you do ?

A young family moved in a few doors up from me last week. The bloke has 2 kids, and the wife is stuffed up again. He tapped my door today, asking for help with his Chinese 125cc scooter. He bought it with his last few £'s,hoping it would get him to a job.It had sat for 2yrs +,and showed no signs of life. What would you do ?

Test the battery and change the petrol. Check for spark and fuel.

Those things are pretty simple......a lot like a lawn mower or weed wacker. If you can keep that Nomad running you should be able to get that little toy to make noise again.

Does the gents wife cook good?

What has been already said. Change the fluids, check plugs and spark.
Probably a cleaning of the carb. Carbs are not as scary as our minds make them out to be. Go slow, try not to tear any gaskets, clean, clean, spray and clean. Dry out, reassemble...
A big can of carb cleaner goes a long way...

Best wishes to you,
Smokier

Done all that, and put fresh petrol in it.I also lent him the money for a new battery, which should have been here by now.Not sure how he is going to pay for road tax and insurance though.

Also Mick add some Seafoam to the tank.. I would guess there is some crap in the carbs and plugging a jet !

Does the motor spin when you try and start it ?

Does it pop and fart while trying to start ?
Do you have spark at the plug ?
A buddy's wife had 1 of those Chinese scooters and she road it to work daily ! I ask him if he knows of any issues ! But again I am leaning on a fuel issue !

Your a good man loaning a new neighbor $$ to try and get his bike going

It was a cold dark night, with a full moon when we met..But she still looked ugly to me.Although, i swear i saw something glistening in the moonlight when she smiled. Maybe her tooth had some gold in it,and my luck could yet change for the better.
