What I hear
Well I take a little ribbing about the sound of my bike at idle.
Sounds like the Jetsons mobile. I kind of like it because it is unusual. But what you'll hear in this video (at about :20-25 seconds) is what I get to hear from the great V4.

My buddy rides a CBR 1000 rr and he thinks it's quiet . My bike has aftermarket exhaust and is louder at idle than his. Unlike you He is suffering under the delusion that his bike is quiet, which is a relative term. The exhaust on his 06 is a factory undertail and like yours when he goes by meat anything above 5000 rpm , I can't hear my bike till he frets well ahead of me it has that nice growl too. Like the way that ST sounds, had never put the Jetsons car in mind when I hear them idle till you mentioned it and you're right. It sounds good when it starts breathing, I like that, thanks for the morning wake up call. I'm showing this to Ted , So he gets an idea that I'm telling the truth about that thing screaming by me.

Try again Bob. I have ridden one of those Connie's and I love the sound at any speed.

C14 is a good bike. I had a C10 prior to my Nomad. Would love to try a C14. It was my first choice, but Mary nixed it because the passenger pegs were too high whereas the ST1300 was comfortable. I couldn't be happier than with my ST, but it is getting older. If Kawasaki would add cruise and heated grips to the C14, plus do something about those rear pegs, I'd be in the showroom right away.

when I had it on my vaquero I only used it about 10% of the time when I rode.

This is what mine sounds like in full song. honestly, I thought it was a lot quieter. To me it sounds like a Cessna at steady speed.

Good to know. Kawasaki does not mention heated grips as being standard on their web site. I may go take a look. I really want cruise: Michigan roads were laid out on the original survey, straight lines intersecting every mile, so cruise is nice here. Plus I have traveled across the country many times, and so usually end up with many miles on the slab. But heated grips with peg extenders, in combination with the weather protection changes a couple years ago could tip the balance for me. I'm curious: do you do your own valve adjustments on the Connie? I read that they are a bear to do and quite expensive if done at the shop.
