Beemer wants to go bagger. Concept 101

BMW Motorrad is presenting a fascinating concept bike – the BMW Motorrad "Concept 101". The world premiere will take place at the exclusive Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, one of the world’s most significant events celebrating historic cars and motorcycles on Italy's Lake Como.

Inspired by the never-ending highway, the feeling of freedom and sheer independence, the BMW Motorrad design team came up with a completely new approach to touring motorcycles with their Concept 101: elegant, exclusive, extroverted and pure cruising power. While chasing the spirit of the open road, a powerful, emotional and highly exclusive six-cylinder bike was born that turns every ride into a unique driving experience.

The BMW Motorrad Concept 101 is the perfect marriage of power and exclusivity: six high-powered cylinders in a 1,649 cc engine lend the bike its powerful torque, pushing it beyond conventional horsepower stats and letting it soar. Not only its performance is impressive, it looks great, too. The quality of materials and design go far beyond previous standards of top quality and exclusivity.

The Concept 101 is the BMW interpretation of a bagger, an exclusive custom bike style particularly popular in the USA. Its extra elongated, drop-shaped body are very eye-catching. Clear lines and carefully modelled surfaces lend it a sportbike character – just the sight of it promises a unique riding experience. Dark wood detailing amid the silver finish with brushed aluminum and carbon surfaces add an exclusive and warm accent.

I think the Vision wins in the ugly department. At least the beemer has a slight industrial look and wood accents but a bit too angular for my tastes.

Yes, my taste leans more towards the Nomads, Voyagers and HD Electra Glide Models with the bat wing fairings, never did like the shark nose look on the Road Glide.

Looks Aerodynamic BMW does wind tunnel testing of their cars in their research department, perhaps this concept is from that testing?

Its a change from the ordinary and I like that.

But what about the cost factor?

Can't find a price for it yet. I would doubt it would be selling for more than the 1600 GTL and that goes for right at $30,000.00
