Noisy starter

Hi all

Just noticed today when I start up the nomad it has an over run sort of noise for a brief time after motor
Fires. Sounds like a rattle from top of front cylinder. Any ideas?

Might just be cam chain, & upper cyl rattle, til oil pressure sends oil to the top.. ?

Have you done the cam chain ajuster-extender's...how many miles on the bike, what weight of oil do you use....have temps dropped lately.... ?

What year.make of bike do you have....

noisy nomad

Hi Sam

Its a 2008 nomad with 100000 kilometers on clock (about 65000 miles)
Cam chain extenders have been done. Sounds like the either the starter motor is slow to disengage or I believe they run a decompression system for start ups. Perhaps this may have something to do with it.

The compression release ceases to function once the engine hits 900 rpm's.

When they go bad they usually hand grenade without any warning noises.

I think you are onto it mas. Might check my idle speed. The split second after firing and reaching idle speed might be cause the noise I am hearing. Another thought is that I have just fitted new battery. perhaps it is spinning starter motor a little faster and taking that split second the disengage. Either way I will just keep an eye on it at this stage.

off to the Australian moto gp this weekend!
