These are made from 1 inch square, 14 gauge steel tube. The attachment points are machined from solid steel blocks. They are powder coated and have plastic end caps. The kit also comes with heavy duty pins to attach them to the bike frame.

I have a prototype that is made from 1/2 by 1 inch tube and it does not bend at all with my bike on the jack. This steel tube that I use is capable of supporting a lot more weight than we are picking up.

I personally weld these together and run a bead on all three sides of the contact points on the cross pieces.

I guarantee these are well made and strong enough for lifting our Vulcans.

By the way, thanks again to my customers for all of the good feedback.

Yellow tape to stop you riding it off the jack, seriously

Yes seriously. There is more than one who has ridden with the jack adapter still attached to the bottom of the bike.

Just a heads up for anyone using a motorcycle jack for the first time.

When you remove a front or back wheel the weight shifts. Be sure to strap the bike to the jack or better still (IMO) block the wheel that is staying on the bike before removing the other wheel.

It sounds obvious but it did catch me out once.

I repainted mine bright pink just in case. I also put a "remove before flight" tag on my keys with a little clip whenever I have the thing attached just to remind me. Worked so far.

Btw, the Idaho lift is one of the best dollars I have spent on my bike. That and the harbor freight lift. Can't imagine wrenching without them.

Thanks

Thanks Bud, received my adapter today and lifted the bike up/back down by myself with no issues.

Only thing was the pins were too big to fit into my 05 Classic frame tabs.

Very glad I purchased the adapter. Made sure my investment was lifted properly, very steady!

Thank you!

No, but i did get on a Tiger cub with flared jean's on and the kickstart went up the trouser leg, that was embarrassing when i stopped at the traffic light's, i had already committed myself to putting my right leg down and fell in a big heap, burning the shit out of my leg on the reverse cone megaphone pipe

That reminds me of the time I tried to bump start a Norton Dominator outside a youth club.
I got some speed up and jumped on the seat sidesaddle and it went over on the side where my feet were not ! Almost as embarassing as the time I locked up the front brake on my Rickman Bonneville outside a packed pub patio. Down it went with me under it. About 50 people had a good laugh that night !

JL,
I hate to admit this, but when I installed my Digital Guard Dawg keyless ignition, stainless steel brake lines, SS clutch lines, tachometer, rewired all of my accessories and fuse holder, changed the gear oil, brakes, etc. a few weeks ago at a friend's house about 30 minutes away (in Kennesaw for the locals), I noticed WHEN I GOT HOME that the idaho jack adapter was still attached. Did I use the SUPER bight yellow tape? of course not! I'm too smart to not remember to remove the adapter before taking off on my bike! Luckily I didn't go over speedbumps. 25 of the 30 minute trip was on the interstate, so I was crusing at 75 mph the whole time! I had the front of the adapter bungee'd to the top of the radiator, so it was fairly secure, but that could have turned out to be ugly. I was lucky. And stupid. Don't do what I did. Use the yellow tape.

I think I've heard this story before from someone else. Good thing nothing bad happened.

I don't use one since I have a table lift, but anyway, how do you guys change your oil ? Hold the bike upright? Doesn't the adapter and jack obstruct where to set the drain pan ?
