Since you guys seem to have a good idea about trailers and such.
I plan to retire and travel a lot in about 3 years. Currently looking at the camper type trailers and wondering if a 2011 Vaquero could handle this trailer without any problems the trailer weighs 575 pounds and has a tongue weight of 90 pounds. http://www.golittleguy.com/model?id=37&model=MyPod-Max

bouson...As per that weight/size of trailer...I wouldnt !
Keep in mind that on any curve/turn, the "traction patch" of your rear tire is the only thing that resist's a "jack-knife" if you have to hit the brakes... On the other hand...some well designed "Anti-lock Brakes --on the trailer, might make it a workable combination .... (Just my take on it after millions of miles of trailer towing-all types, including big rig doubles..on ice !) |

Pretty hefty unloaded wait for a camper trailer like that to be pulled by the bike.
The tongue weight should be around 30 pounds you may want to look at a camper like a timeout style or a bunkhouse

You would tow that at your own risk. If the trailer weighs nearly as much as the vehicle pulling it and that vehicle has only 2 wheels...it's not a good idea.

I got the mchitch and wiring harness. I bought the trailer from harbor freight and pulled it from Missouri to key west with no problem.

A few facts to add: 1. I will be riding solo. 2. Only have about 100 pounds of gear total weight for everything around 700 pounds. 3. I was thinking trailer brakes myself. I keep seeing guys posting on other blogs that they are running rigs with trailer and gear around 800 pounds. Any opinions on what would be the most total weight for trailer and gear I should tow.

I dont/havent any trailer experience behind my Big Assed Bike...but I know that anything that can add weight/force to your bikes resistance to skid at the rear wheel is a factor that works against your safety ...just based on my own sense of security/ability to travel on my bike, I'd limit my total weight of trailer -including load- to around 250-300lbs..but thats just "me" I'm sure there are those that have towed more and continue to do so... ! GOOD LUCK

Anyone seen or used this setup for brakes? It doesn't say if the price includes installation, but I think it's just the kit for the price.
Electric Hydraulic Disc Brakes - $1225 (not hydraulic surge!) http://www.bunkhousecamper.com/the-n...system--Brakes

I have a time out that is 345 lbs. plus what ever I load it has to go at least 500. With all my stuff. Towed it over 1300 mi. round trip to Madora ND. Also have a harbor freight tag
along cargo. Both pull great. Bike is a 2011 Vaquero. |
