I wish you had read about the Nomad before purchasing, your thoughts would be different.

Thanks
Thanks for the warm welcome.
I belong to the local chapter of CMA (Ambassadors on Wheels) and I will be riding the Dark Horse down to Harlingen on the 30th. This past week I installed a 'Harley' king tour pack on the back of the beast. Of course the Missus has to approve the location first since she will be relaxing back there anyway. I have the template for the brace that I can upload into Sketchup if anyone is interested. Unit was $385 with backrest and taillights. The parts for the frame came from Lowes. Bending the bracket was about the most difficult without a metal brake. I will attach Bracket pics shortly. Overall it looks like it's always been on the bike. I have a set of 12" progressives that should be here Friday. That will lower the bike an inch and I can get both feet flat on the ground. |

Nice looking bike. Like Paul mentioned, I adjusted my Nomad to come alive. I look forward to meeting you and seeing your mods. Maybe in Antlers. oh yeah, and welcome from Cleburne, TX.

Welcome from Ohio. I logged many happy miles on 1500/1600 Nomads but coming from sport-bike background found I missed the HP and handling from time to time.
My solution was a Victory Vision! If you can get past the looks, the combination of HP and handling in a V-Twin Touring Cruiser are unmatched. Guys are moding up the cams etc... and getting 120+ HP at the rear wheel.

Since I have been riding the beasty I have come to accept there are going to major differences between Mfg. That being said, now that I have added the tour pack, 12" progressives and cleaned out the tail pipe, I can say that the bike is growing on me. I just sit back, relax and enjoy the ride. The addition of the progressives really made a difference now that I can get both feet flat on the ground. With the wife on the back it drops another half inch or more so that I'm really stable. I also found that on the road it feels more planted and not as top heavy. I'm about done for the next couple of months with tweaking until fall. The only thing left at the moment are the top bag guards, and trunk rack.
Eventually I will tackle the intake and PCM module. I checked out some of the mods on the website and like what I have seen so far. I haven't found the link for the PCM upgrades (Power commander?) but I will keep on looking.
