Question ISO Grips. Advice?/Help?

Hi all, just wondering....when I was working with chuckster making the hitch for the Vaquero, I noticed he had ISO grips on his Gold Wing. The GW has, from the factory, heated grips. So the ISO grips for that bike simply have a "clamshell" setup with two halves that go over the grips. What I liked was the diameter of the grips, they were large diameter, and felt really nice.

So my question is, if I get heated ISO grips, are they that large in diameter, or are they smaller? What I wanted in the end is larger diameter/heated grips, with racin-ray's mod. Just wondering if I should get the throttle mod on the stock grips, install a heater, and put the clamshell ISO's over it to get the diameter I want, or are they all that large?

Does that make sense??!??

Thanks,

Dave

I don't have the answer for your - But have an option - Have you also looked at the Avon Air grips - very similar in initial appearance to the ISO's, but I like them much better than the ISO's as they are softer/cushyer, and they have raised bumps on the rubber so are grippyer, especially when wet. They aren't clamshells so the grips are fully rounded, not the two halves that Kury has, and just plain feel better in my hands. They are large diameter like the ISOs - I don't think you can put the clamshells over the stock grip, but I could be wrong.

I have a set of Avon heated grips in transit to Ray for the mod - once done he will be sending them my way and I will replace the non-heated Avons on my Voyager with them.

FYI: here are the Avon Heated grips

Avons beat ISO grips hands down. Pun intended. Everybody and their dog has ISO grips but Avons look and work better.

I had Iso Grips for several years, but switched to Avons earlier this year. They are slightly smaller diameter, but I like the feel overall better than the Iso's. Can't comment on the heated aspect, as mine are the regular type with the throttle rocker.
