I used a flat piece of aluminum 1/8 thick and contoured it to my rear fender. It bolts right through the two holes that were in the fender already. I then bolted the plate and my new frame to it. I used a Radius from Custom Dynamics which has the signals and some brake lights built into the frame. I highly recommend it!

I started a thread about my build in this forum, but am on my phone so I don't have the link. Check it out!

I agree with ZZ. I have a lightweight piece of still laying around. I found an old log in the burn pile and just used it to start hammering the steel to the correct shape. Once finished I and got my shape how I liked it I drilled holes to match up to the existing holes in the fender. A couple coats of paint and added my frame to the mount and I was done. Quick, cheap, and easy mod that cleaned up the tail section.

What are you doing for signals? I had an integrated tail light on my 900 i got from Custom Dynamics I think (dont remember) but dont really see a version for the VV. Thought about doing the LED frame that have signals integrated in but do not know how visible it would be in my rush hour commute.

These pics don't show my new signals.
Several guys are using a lighted plate frame for signals.
