Headed for the dark side in Houston

Just Looked at my metzler 880 that has 2000 miles on it. Nothing but steel showing. 2000 frickin miles. Headed for the dark side. Anyone in Houston Know where I can get a car tire mounted on my voyager? This will be my 4th tire in 16000 miles.

Help me find a way to the dark side!

2000 miles on a tire ! I got 23,000 kms on the Cobra on my Nomad and there was still tread left. 2000 miles on the Michelin Commader II on my Voyager and it still looks brand new.

Bought it at 13800 and I just turned 16000. That's 2200 miles. That is on the voyager. That's the worst mileage I've gotten on a tire . Got 4000 on the tire that came with the bike. I don't know what to do. Went with metzler to get longer lasting tire. 2200 fricken miles!

Wow, you have got to be the hardest member on tires I have ever heard of.
Are you real hard on the throttle;e every take off?

There has to be something wrong.I have owned about 30 motorcycles and used all different brands of tires and never had one wear out that fast.I also worked at several motorcycle shops for a total of eight years and the only time I saw tire wear like that was with young kids on crotch rockets.I assume you keep your tires inflated properly and even if you didn't I couldn't see tire wear like that. This has me stumped.

Sounds like the bike is out of alignment. Might want to check the alignment the old school way.
1. Find a straight line in a driveway that's about 20' long.
2. Start bike along the line and keep the front wheel straight on the line.
3. Roll to the end of the line and stop.
4. The line should run straight down the middle of both tires.
5. Last take a board with a straight edged and lay it against the rear tire edge if it runs away from or into the line you are out of alignment.

Either you had a defective tire, your a very aggressive rider, or theres something wrong with the bike. Thats certainly not normal for any brand of tire.

I think you can safely cross the first one off the list.

Went back and dug out the receipt for the tire. It was dated April 13. My oil change log shows that I changed the oil on march 21 at 10401 miles and on June 3 at 12700 miles. Therefore I must have bought the tire around 11000 miles. That means the tire has 5000 miles on it. My bad!

5,000 is not good mileage either. You should be getting twice that.

I was getting similar mileage on my motorcycle rear tires and that's the whole reason I went darkside.

I ride it pretty hard. The best mileage I have gotten out of a tire is 6800. That was a Bridgestone. All my buddies have hot rod Harley's. I can keep up but hammering on it.

Can you really get into the corners with the car tire?
