NRA Stops U.N. Arms Trade Treaty

http://www.nraila.org/news-issues/articles/2012/nra-stops-un-arms-trade-treaty.aspx

This is one of the reasons that I am a Life Member of the NRA.
This is one of the reasons that I donate to the NRA when ever I can afford to.

Anyone who is a hunter, competitive shooter, recreational shooter or who owns a gun for personal defense or any other reason should join the NRA.

If you believe in the 2nd. Amendment of the Constitution and the Liberty and Freedom we have as a result, you should consider joining the NRA.

Yes, you will get solicitations asking for donations. It does take money to fight against those in the world and in our own country who desire to do away with the 2nd. Amendment.

Of course, you have no obligation to ever make a donation. If it annoys you to get these solicitations just toss them into the trash. I believe that any annoyance that receiving such a solicitation may cause you, it would be far less than the annoyance of government agents showing up on your door demanding that you turn over your firearms.

It's your choice.

If this would have been allowed, as it appears to have come so close, I am afraid there would have been such an outcry (to say it very mildly) by a large contingent of U.S. citizens in protest.

Pushed far enough... it could have led to drastic events...

Given the surreal mindset and actions coming-out of Washington's leadership at present... this might very well have gotten very ugly, very fast.

Our country has enough challenges without having to add more to its load. But, the war on guns will continue in earnest -- unfortunately.

You're absolutely RIGHT! That's my line in the sand! I can't for legal reasons say what I'll do, but, that's it!

I am thinking of buying gift memberships for my elected officials who may have supported this. Senator Cantwell.

Bob, I agree wholeheartedly and have stated many times on this site if you own firearms you need to be a member of the NRA and if you ride a motorcycle you need to join the AMA.
Some people say they don't join because of the mailings asking for money lame excuse. Just toss them in the garbage, but at the very least, join.

Greg, I doubt violence would have erupted over this if it passed. We are a soft people who talk the talk but not many are willing to walk the walk.

I'll join again. They did get on my nerves with the mailings, but hell, I thought it only bothered me. I like the organization and the way it keep on the issues.

But, I better get a sticker and a hat or something.

This was just one front of many in the war on freedoms that will continue.

From what I have read and heard, its not so much defeated as its not able to pass "at the moment".

Would be nice to know who the representatives were that stood against the UN thing in our leadership though.... could give one a view of who represents the constituion and who thinks it should be re-written......November is closing fast.

They wont stop, they just back up and regroup for a different angle of attack..... when asked directly about gun control, Reid answered indirectly.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, asked Thursday about Obama's remarks on gun control the night before, said the Senate's packed schedule precludes any action on firearms legislation. Asked if the Senate might debate the issue next year, Reid said, "Nice try."

It'll be sneaky and they will lull you into it, like the Nazis did the Jews. For safety and protection, firearms were confiscated, then the Jews had to register, then had to wear an arm band, then they had to move into a certain part of the city for protection from an invading army, then the ghetto was barb wired for protection. Finally they were loaded on trains in a hurry, to escape the invading forces, to a place with better homes and jobs waiting for them.

Ignorant people looking down their friggin crooked nose want to know what I need with a gun with a magazine that fires a hundred rounds. I want every freaking thing the government has access to, for me and every LAW ABIDING body.

That way when they pass a law to make me pay for other peoples doctor bill, they'd look pretty damn stupid trying to collect with head that's been knocked off with a mortar round.

I'm a member now and have been steady for about the last 5 years. Have joined off and on for many years. Now I will remain a member for good despite their frequent mailings.

As the UN arms treaty, IMHO it does not mean a thing. The Senate will never ratify it and LEO's would not enforce it anyway. We would wind up with millions of outlaws in the US all armed to the teeth. It could get messy.

New research into Adolf Hitler's use of firearms registration lists to confiscate guns and the execution of their owners teaches a forceful lesson -- one that reveals why the American people and Congress have rejected registering honest firearm owners.

I keep hearing it over and over on different newscast and some political pundits and politicians, they have no problem with people having a gun for protection and hunting. The second amendment is there there to protect us from the Government!
