As Todd says the clutch is a good starting point and I would make sure there are no issues there, but it appears something is stopping you from shifting past 1st gear.

Jeff, jack up the bike, engine OFF and see if you can turn the rear wheel when in theory it's in 1st gear. You should not be able to turn the rear wheel then. And if not, then seek neutral, and turn the wheel then.

There is more than one thing wrong. The oil question was probably aimed at what oil was used. If the oil used said EC on the back of the lable you just ate the clutch.
