You know Rhys, when it first came out, it had a valid application. You could have a singer in the studio who would lay down a nearly perfect take, but was slightly flat on one or two notes. We could correct the pitch on those notes and save the track. Much easier than punching in and out, and a huge time saver.
But then people started using it live and to push no talent hacks into the public eye. Real musicians (not necessarily the ones who get all of the press and money), loath it. I loathe how it is being used in the industry today. But I maintain that the absolute best, most skilled and talented musicians are not anyone you've ever heard of. They are probably working in the hardware store and gigging in small clubs on the weekends. Success does not equal talent. At least not any more. Now that my crack has hijacked this thread to some degree, we return you to our regularly scheduled program discussing the Autotune module on a Vaquero.
