I agree that more than two looks cluttered (no offense intended UM). I have two 6 1/2 MB Quart marine grade in my Reckless and they sound great at highway speeds. I think you will be impressed.

Not to direct this in another area....
I too have been looking at the fairings.
One thing that sticks out in most of the pictures here and at Reckless
is the use of the "stock" risers...
I have the PhatRisers II, will the fairings work with these?

I have the 6x9 speaker setup. The reason I went with this setup is because on the reckless fairing the sides appear to inset exactly for the 6x9 and it curves perfectly with them.

I hear alot of "will this or that work with my risers". Why not just swap to taller bars? I'd think that would eliminate any issues with the stereos. Is it just the cost? Or is there something else I'm missing? I've always thought risers looked "added on".

Swapping the bar can be pricey if it requires new cables. I think that I why most tend to just use risers.

I'd like to add a fairing but my aftermarket risers causing a fit interference with the radio is my concern.
I've looked for bars that offer more pullback than the Nomad bars so I could go back to stock risers but without much luck.
One of the Yamaha cruisers has bars with a little more rise and pullback. They make a positive difference but not enough.
Apes changes the appearance too much for me.

I've heard that the latest version of the Reckless fairing for the Nomad raises the height of the radio cut out.
That might help.

Risers seem to cause more problems with the Reckless brand of fairings. I had 4x2 risers with my Premeux fairing and it didn't interfere at all with the fairing or stereo.

So what would be the difference in cables between 4" risers and 4" taller bars? I know I'm missing something.

I wouldn't think there is a difference for the end result.

In that aspect there may be no difference at all.
However as Jared mentioned longer bars normally
require longer cables and such adding to the expense overall
not to mention moving everything to the new bars from the old.
In my case I have the Scoot Works 4 inch risers.
It only required redirecting the cables a bit and all was good.

Hadn't thought about the work in moving everything around. I guess if you just add risers, you don't have to touch much else. The only thing I don't like about most mini apes is the width of the base. With a cover (like on a HD Electra Glide), a wide base looks right. Without, it seems odd (to me at least). There's gotta be something out there with a narrower (like ours) base.

Ask Oldbikers about bars, I believe he put 13" bars on and only had to reroute the brake line if I'm correct. I'm sure he will chime in sooner or later.

I've got 5" x 2 1/2" pullback risers, didn't have to reroute anything and with an Invicta fairing the marine radio covers slides down with about 1/4" space between the risers.
