Shipping another one off tomorrow

Well, son #3 leaves for Minot State tomorrow. He is flying out of Tampa around noon. Tammy helped him get all his clothes packed up tonight and we will ship some things out tomorrow via UPS (dang airlines charge $35 for extra bags).

It will be a little rough on both of us but I think it will be more so for me this time. Danny and I have become pretty close over the last couple years because I spent most every day with him in sports (football, weightlifting and wrestling). Got a little :'( last night thinking about it.

Even big, bad, biker dudes get a little misty eyed.

It's OK, just think you and the wife can renew your relationship. ;)

Thanks Gerry. We still have 1 at home, he is 11. The Nomad has allowed us to do that since we've had it.

One more at home, well you can renew your relationship anyway. It will be good for the three of you. We have three sons, and I remember all the stuff we did together. I never thought they would get me up on rollerblades, but they did it. Surprised myself that I didn't break any bones. Good luck raising the last one.

Congratulations on the milestone. I know how it can be when they leave home. Can be a lonesome time when they leave.

LOL. Well, at least I'll get to drink it when I go to see him. He tried beer once and hated it.

Taste buds change with age. Besides maybe he hadn't tried the great Canadian brews.

Hopefully he has housing already lined up. Minot went through some epic flooding of the Mouse River in July and displaced some 4,000 people. Minot will look a little different since he was last there. Check out the link http://kqcd.com/News_video.asp?news=51266 this is just a couple of houses, Whole neighbors have houses gutted with debris on the streets. Some areas so bad there was water on the 2nd floor of a two story house.

I'm guessing as a freshman he will be living in the dorms. Tell him to invest in mosquito repellent. I hear they are terrible there. I understand the smell in Minot isn't really pleasant, but that should be going away as things are slowly drying.

On the lighter side the Black Eyed Peas will be doing a benefit concert for Minot Flood victims in September at the state fair grounds in Minot. Tickets are $100.00.

Best wishes to your son at Minot State! I think I told you before, but I'm a proud alumni of MSU. Great college with great people. As deadant mentioned above, Minot went through horrible flooding this summer. The north edge of the dike ran right on the south side of the college, and they were fortunate to keep the flood water out of the college campus.
I live only 80 miles west of Minot, so if you ever come for a visit, let me know.

Thanks to all for the well wishes. Got a little misty eyed at the tram entrance for him to go airside. Had a guy ask me about Minot and if I had a kid there. Told him yep, sure do, all 6' 9", 310 lbs of him. He about fell out.

Ryan, I will keep you in mind when I get out there. I am thinking of a "Run for the Sons". Got one at OPSU in Goodwell, OK, one at MSU and one in LaGrange, GA. Figure it is about a 4600 mile ride. Doable.

We followed the floods closely and kept in contact with his coaches throughout the summer. 3 of the coaching staff lost their homes in the floods. It was a very tragic event and from some of my reading it sounded like it was somewhat of a preventable incident.
