Be careful out there today (and every day)

Just got back from a Life Flight standby call for an auto vs motorcycle collision. Elderly driver pulled out from a side street and Harley Screamin Eagle rider was unable to avoid him and planted the bike just in front of the front wheel of the car. Rider was flown to Trauma Center with badly fractured femur.

Ride like nobody can see you, and everyone is out to get you.

Following those two rules is the only way a rider can survive today.

Be careful out there today (and every day)

Just read a story out of Galveston that a long-time Jamaica Beach VFD firefighter riding his bike on the seawall (water-side main drag on the island) was killed this weekend when a 17 yr old decided to hook a U-turn in the middle of the roadway without regard to oncoming traffic. Bike unable to avoid the turning truck struck it resulting in fatal injuries. Subsequent blood alcohol testing earned the driver who is well below the legal drinking age a DUI charge, with additional charges likely for the death of the rider. Mardi Gras will no longer be celebration for Chris' family.

Idiots are out there everyday, you have to keep a real sharp eye out for them.

Thanks for the advice Larry. I do constantly keep scanning in all directions looking for the idiot that is going to pull out in front of me, turn in front of me, stop suddenly, pass someone coming at me, making sure oncoming traffic doesn't veer into my lane and making sure the idiots behind me don't run over me.
